Writing Better Project Case Studies

How to describe projects so recruiters and engineers can both understand the signal.

Case studies usually fail because they explain the stack before they explain the problem.

Start with the signal

A strong case study answers four questions quickly:

  • What problem existed?
  • Why did it matter?
  • What did you build?
  • What changed after the work shipped?

Leave implementation detail in the right place

Technical detail still matters, but it should support the story instead of replacing it. The goal is to show judgment, not just effort.
